Delaware State Affiliate

Welcome to the Delaware Nurse Midwives Website

The members of the Delaware State Affiliate of the American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM) would like to welcome you to our website. Our goal is to promote Nurse Midwifery in Delaware and to support, educate, and empower women during pregnancy, birth, and throughout their lifespan.

Although Delaware is a small state, there is a diverse population of women and families who live here. No matter what stage of life you are in, consider seeking out a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) for your women's health and pregnancy/birth care needs.

Midwives believe healthy mothers are more likely to have healthy babies and happy families. We believe that a healthy lifestyle means taking care of yourself, not just during pregnancy and birth but throughout your life. CNMs are committed to providing quality health care for women of all ages. Choosing a Nurse Midwife as your women's health care provider means you can receive adolescent care, gynecological care, pregnancy/birth care, and midlife care, all from the same place, with someone you trust.

Our Moment of Truth offers a number of tools to help you find the health care path that is right for you.

About ACNM (www.midwives.org)

The American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM) is the professional association that represents certified nurse-midwives (CNMs) and certified midwives (CMs) in the United States. ACNM promotes excellence in midwifery education, clinical practice, and research. With roots dating to 1929, our members are primary care providers for women throughout the lifespan, with a special emphasis on pregnancy, childbirth, and gynecologic and reproductive health. ACNM provides research, administers and promotes continuing education programs, establishes clinical practice standards, and creates liaisons with state and federal agencies and members of Congress to increase the visibility and recognition of midwifery care.
